Book The Resurrection of the Son of God Description/Summary:

Why did Christianity begin, and why did it take the shape it did? To answer this question -- which any historian must face -- renowned New Testament scholar N. T. Wright focuses on the key points: what precisely happened at Easter? What did the early Christians mean when they said that Jesus of Nazareth had been raised from the dead? What can be said today about this belief? This book, third in Wright's series Christian Origins and the Question of God, sketches a map of ancient beliefs about life after death, in both the Greco-Roman and Jewish worlds. It then highlights the fact that the early Christians' belief about the afterlife belonged firmly on the Jewish spectrum, while introducing several new mutations and sharper definitions. This, together with other features of early Christianity, forces the historian to read the Easter narratives in the gospels, not simply as late rationalizations of early Christian spirituality, but as accounts of two actual events: the empty tomb of Jesus and his "appearances." How do we explain these phenomena? The early Christians' answer was that Jesus had indeed been bodily raised from the dead; that was why they hailed him as the messianic "son of God." No modern historian has come up with a more convincing explanation. Facing this question, we are confronted to this day with the most central issues of the Christian worldview and theology.

Book THE RESURRECTION Description/Summary:

Death-for most people-is an event that should - alas- not be discussed, showing too often embarrassment toward this taboo subject, while the resurrection will be -later-the next and final step for all of us. Even though the topic is extensive, Christianity offers a unique picture of it. Suffice to mention the Christian Creed - first adopted in 325 A.D. in the time of Emperor Constantine - the end of which states... I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen! In these few words expressed in this Creed, everything is said, resurrection and eternal life included. Therefore, how could so many people still be afraid of death, when Jesus-Christ offers immortality to anybody willing to follow his precepts? This is what the author, Gilles Charles Vuille, is willing to communicate, sharing his in-depth knowledge on the subject.

Book Evidence for the Resurrection Description/Summary:

When Jesus died on the cross, it seemed that all had been lost. Death had won. But after three days in a rich man's tomb, Jesus appeared...alive! The news was so shocking that his followers refused to believe it until they saw him with their own eyes and touched his wounds with their own hands. Then Jesus made an amazing claim: In the future, they too would have resurrected bodies like his, bodies that would never deteriorate, age, or perish. They would have new life without death or pain in the presence of a loving God forever. But can we really believe His promise? For that matter, can we really believe that the promise was made by a man who rose from the dead? In this fascinating look at the claims of the Gospel writers and 2,000 years of believing Christians, bestselling author Josh McDowell and his son Sean examine the compelling evidence and conclude that Jesus Christ conquered death and the grave. In clear, concise, and accessible chapters, Josh and Sean present the facts about the resurrection and what it means for readers today.

Book Resurrection Description/Summary:

Christian faith depends upon the resurrection of Jesus, but the claim about Jesus’ resurrection is, nevertheless, disputed. This book, written by a New Testament scholar and a systematic theologian in conjunction, develops the conditions for the claim. It carefully analyzes the relevant texts and their possible interpretations and engages with New Testament scholarship in order to show nuances and different trajectories in the material. The picture emerging is that the New Testament authors themselves tried to come to terms with how to understand the claim that Jesus had been resurrected from the dead. But the book does not stop there: by also asking for the experiential content that gave rise to the belief in the resurrection. Sandnes and Henriksen argue that there is no such thing as an experience of the resurrection reported in the New Testament—only experiences of an empty tomb and appearance of Jesus, interpreted as Jesus resurrected. Hence, resurrection emerges as an interpretative category for post-Easter experiences, and is only understandable in light of the full content of Jesus’ ministry and its context.

Book Resurrection Description/Summary:

Jim Dent, author of the New York Times bestselling The Junction Boys returns with the remarkable and inspiring story of one of the biggest comebacks in college football history. In the 1960's, Notre Dame's football program was in shambles. Little did anyone know, help was on its way in the form of Ara Parseghian, a controversial choice for head coach--the first one outside of the Notre Dame "family." It was now his responsibility to rebuild the once-proud program and teach the Fighting Irish how to win again. But it was no small task. The men of Notre Dame football were a bunch of unlikelies and oddballs, but Parseghian transformed them into a team: a senior quarterback who would win the Heisman Trophy; a five-foot-eight walk-on who would make first team All-American; an exceptionally rare black player, who would overcome much more than his quiet demeanor to rise to All-American, All-Pro, Hall of Famer, and to the Minnesota Supreme Court. Parseghian would change everything, from the uniforms and pads to the offensive strategy. It would be a huge gamble against great obstacles. But Ara Parseghian had that look in his eye.... New York Times bestselling author Jim Dent chronicles one of the greatest comeback seasons in the history of college football. Once again confirming his position as one of the top sports writers in the country, Dent brings the legends of Notre Dame football to life in an unforgettable story of second chances, determination, and unwavering spirit.

Book Resurrection Description/Summary:

"What made Jesus the Messiah? This book will teach you the Jewish roots of your faith and help you gain a fresh new perspective on the resurrection of Jesus. In 1994, after one of the greatest rabbis of the twentieth century died at the age of ninety-two, his followers began to proclaim him as the Messiah. They expected him to rise from the dead and even come again. Is this possible? Could a deceased rabbi be the Messiah? In this fascinating book, biblical scholar Michael L. Brown, PhD, takes you on a captivating journey beginning in Brooklyn, New York, where this famous rabbi died in 1994, then back through Jewish history, looking at little-known Jewish beliefs about the Messiah, potential Messiahs that emerged in each generation, and teachings about the reincarnated soul of the Messiah. Dr. Brown then looks at the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus from his unique perspective as a Messianic Jew, demonstrating why Jesus' resurrection uniquely confirms that He alone is the promised Messiah. This page-turner is for everyone who is interested in the Jewish roots of our faith, everyone fascinated by Jewish tradition, and everyone wanting to gain a fresh new perspective on the resurrection of Jesus the Messiah. It is also a great witnessing tool for Christians who want to share the good news of Yeshua the Messiah with their Jewish friends"--

Book The Threefold Order of the Resurrection of the Righteous Description/Summary:

This is a Bible study that will focus upon a long neglected passage of Scripture- 1 Corinthians 15:20-28. This passage from the apostle Paul is actually a divinely inspired outline or blueprint of the different "orders" or "companies" of saints involved in the resurrection of the righteous-those who have been saved throughout the ages and in the future as well. Of course, all believers anticipate their personal bodily resurrections from the dead as guaranteed by our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. However, this passage in 1 Corinthians 15 informs us that the saved of earth will not all be resurrected at the same time and in the same event. Paul revealed that there are three different "orders" or "companies" to be resurrected at three distinct times and in three separate events. Many theologians have shown confusion and hesitancy in their abilities to interpret this passage. Consequently, in the discussion about the soon coming Rapture of the Church, most seem to avoid any careful use of this passage. Sad to say, the passage has literally been "set on the shelf," as it were, in the discussion of the pretribulational or posttribulational Rapture of the Church. In this study, you will find that this passage is actually far more useful and strategic in the determination of the issues than anyone has ever realized. We know from the Hebrew Scriptures that God required all Israel to appear before Him three times in the year at what has been designated as the "Three Harvest Feasts." In a similar manner, the apostle Paul taught that the resurrection (or harvest, 1 Cor. 15:35-38) of the righteous dead to appear before God will be in three distinct stages or "each in his own order" (1 Cor. 15:23). We shall see that these "orders" were designed by the Spirit of God to fit perfectly the parallel of the sequence of the three designated Harvest Feasts. Early in his ministry, Jack W. Langford stepped outside the traditional man-made religious organizations of Christendom and served the only Church that Christ is building-"the body of Christ" (1 Cor. 12:13 and Eph. 4:1-4). He exemplified a Bible teaching ministry, conducted radio programs, held public discussions with both atheists and cult leaders, and traveled to several different countries in the service of Christ. For the last twenty years, he has researched and written many biblical studies on a wide variety of subjects. Many are available at www.SeparationTruth.com. Book The Resurrection of Jesus Description/Summary:

The question of the historicity of Jesus' resurrection has been repeatedly probed, investigated and debated. And the results have varied widely. Perhaps some now regard this issue as the burned-over district of New Testament scholarship. Could there be any new and promising approach to this problem? Yes, answers Michael Licona. And he convincingly points us to a significant deficiency in approaching this question: our historiographical orientation and practice. So he opens this study with an extensive consideration of historiography and the particular problem of investigating claims of miracles. This alone is a valuable contribution. But then Licona carefully applies his principles and methods to the question of Jesus' resurrection. In addition to determining and working from the most reliable sources and bedrock historical evidence, Licona critically weighs other prominent hypotheses. His own argument is a challenging and closely argued case for the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus, the Christ. Any future approaches to dealing with this 'prize puzzle' of New Testament study will need to be routed through The Resurrection of Jesus.
