Welcome to the 2012 Long Island Kosher BBQ Championship!

Gone are the days when you had to rely on the Food Network to experience the delectable food and unique entertainment of a barbecue championship. Now, there is a kosher alternative: a fun-filled day of kosher barbecue specialties and festivities right here on Long Island!

Temple Beth Torah of Westbury is proud to host the first annual Long Island Kosher BBQ Championship on Sunday, June 10th, 2012. Join us at 11:00 a.m. at:

Temple Beth Torah
243 Cantiague Rock Road
Westbury, NY 11590

We are pleased to welcome Fairway Market as the title sponsor for this event.  Their generous support and expertise will help ensure a most successful event. Join the growing list of our sponsors and learn how your family, business or community group can become a sponsor.

This event is modeled after and sanctioned by the ASBEE World Kosher BBQ Championship in Memphis, Tennessee and has quickly become one of the year’s most anticipated events within the Long Island Jewish community.

The first, second and third place team champions for Best Brisket, Best Ribs, Best Beans, Most Original Team Name and Best Booth Decoration will receive trophies. Fourth, fifth and sixth place team champions will receive medals. The team that is awarded overall Grand Champion will receive the ultimate prize: a chance to compete in any of the Kosher BBQ Championships in Atlanta, Georgia, Birmingham, Alabama, or Memphis, Tennessee.

In addition to the BBQ Championship, you will be treated to good food, family fun and old-fashioned hospitality with events ranging from a pickle-eating contest to a basketball skills tournament to an array of live entertainment and finally to a Kiddie Corral filled with various children’s activities. You won’t want to miss the inflatable bounce houses, slides, an obstacle course, air brush tattoos and a Velcro climbing wall!

Part of our proceeds will go to hunger relief charities right here on Long Island, including Long Island Cares, the INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network), Hatzilu, Rock Can Roll and M’yad l’yad.

Please note: You do not have to be Jewish or kosher to join us – just be willing to have a great time and to enjoy some award-winning barbecue!
